Employment Training Specialist (Job Coach)

The Arc of Chester County is an innovative non-profit organization with strong ties to our community. In fact, we have been providing services for over 70 years. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Employment Training Specialist, who will provide creative and individualized job coaching services to candidates with disabilities. Job coaching is a position where you can truly "make a difference," for people with disabilities and for the community at large. Our Employment Training Specialists work throughout Chester and Delaware Counties. This particular position will focus on Southern Chester County.

JOB SUMMARY: All employees at The Arc of Chester County are expected to embrace and exemplify our Mission, Vision, and Core Values. The Employment Training Specialist (ETS) is responsible for competitive placement of participants in the Comprehensive Employment Services (CES) program, including assessments, job development, job training, follow-up services and maintenance of participants' records.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Participate, collaborate and/or implement The Arc of Chester County's 5-year Strategic Plan.
  • Complete all training and qualifications requirements.
  • Obtain employment opportunities for job-ready candidates by promoting CES services and developing positive partnerships with prospective employers in the participants' local communities.
  • Create and maintain work schedule according to individual caseload and team coverage needs.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze information about participants through records, interviews, assessments, and professional sources to appraise the interests, aptitudes, and vocational and interpersonal skills of participants for employment planning.
  • Evaluate and determine appropriate matches of candidates and employment opportunities based on individual needs and aspirations.
  • Provide counsel, support and instruction throughout the job search process; assess, prepare candidates and promote independence in the preparation of applications and resumes, and practice for participation in interviews. Provide initial transportation for assessments and interviews, if needed.
  • Provide one-on-one training at the work site and on-going follow-up services based on the individuals' specific needs.
  • Complete and submit required documentation in a timely manner, including but not limited to, service notes, incident reports, time and attendance records, and mileage expenses. Assist program director with the development of progress reports as requested.
  • Comply with all agency policies and procedures, program requirements, waiver, regulations and laws, and agency plans.
  • Prepare for and actively participate in all required meetings including, but not limited to; team meetings, service plans, and committee meetings.
  • Provide guidance and referral to specialists who may assist with participants' concerns regarding management of benefits, unemployment compensation, and other employment related issues as may become necessary.
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with employers, businesses, the community, service coordinators, counselors, participants, and families.
  • Maintain participants' records; including referral and intake information, psychological reports, ISP and updates, Behavior Support Plans, fading and training plans, and job placement information.
  • Adjust work schedule and occasionally work evenings, weekends and/or holidays if needed to ensure support for participant at their job site.
  • Participate in Arc sponsored events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Bachelor's or Associates degree preferred, in Vocational/Rehabilitation counseling, Education, Psychology, or related field and/or experience working directly with persons with disabilities.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and writing skills required. 2. Ability to work independently, to set priorities and follow through on agency policies and procedures.
